Miles of roadways resurfaced

Updates

The FY26 Street Resurfacing Project will improve approximately 1.1 miles of Town streets through a combination of resurfacing and microsurfacing to extend pavement life and enhance roadway conditions.

In addition to pavement improvements, the project includes several accessibility upgrades to enhance pedestrian safety and meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Improvements include updated crosswalks, a new crosswalk with curb ramps and a short sidewalk segment at the intersection of South Greensboro Street and Roberson Street, curb ramp replacements, minor pavement marking changes on Berryhill Drive, manhole adjustments, and related infrastructure improvements.

An invitation to bid was advertised on April 19, 2026, followed by a public bid opening on May 18, 2026. Town Council approved awarding the 2026 Resurfacing Project to Daniel’s Inc. of Garner on June 16, 2026.

Next Steps

Next steps include coordinating construction schedules and updating public information so residents know which streets are planned for resurfacing in this year’s project.

Staff will begin planning for the FY27 street resurfacing project, including evaluating pavement conditions and developing a request for bids to support project delivery. Potential challenges such as funding limitations, planning delays, and resource constraints may affect implementation.
