Miles of asphalt bike path resurfacing & improvements

Public Works maintains 1.76 miles of asphalt bike paths throughout the town. These paths are typically resurfaced in coordination with the Street Resurfacing Project to ensure consistency and cost efficiency.
No asphalt bike paths were resurfaced as part of the FY 2026 Street Resurfacing Project.
Next Steps
Staff will continue reviewing asphalt bike path conditions identified in the Pavement Condition Survey to guide future maintenance and improvement priorities. Public Works will also keep advancing bike related improvements in the priority areas outlined in the Comprehensive Plan, which envisions a bicycle network that is safer, more connected, and more accessible throughout Carrboro. Potential challenges, such as funding limitations, planning delays, and resource constraints, may affect implementation.
